4 color process screen printing class at spudnik press

Over my spring break I had the pleasure of taking a screen printing class at Spudnik Press in Chicago, IL. I would highly recommend their classes. Their space is great and my instructor was very helpful and knowledgable. She taught us how to take photographs and break them down into cyan, magenta, yellow, and black channels in Photoshop. We outputted each color to a print on transparency paper and exposed the 4 different image layers to 4 different screens. It was a long process but we layered the color prints on top of each other, starting with cyan. It was amazing to watch my print come to life with each color layer that I added. I really just wanted to focus on the process so I printed an image of my husband and I in Door County, WI, sitting on some steps overlooking Lake Michigan. I will definitely take another class at Spudnik in the future!
