The Morris-Shearer Foundation, just north of Chicago, was kind enough to donate a letterpress to Judson University. The type collection and Poco Proofing Press are an amazing gift and learning tool for my students but can be challenging as there is only enough type and furniture for a handful of students to make an extensive project. My task this Fall semester was to teach a class of 22 students...what to do? I had them go outside and collect and press a leaf of their choice. We printed on leaves and it was beautiful. Additionally I had them construct a sentence that followed this format: Design is __________ but is not ___________. Great results!
